The Majesty of Cusco continues surprising the world. This time, the prestigious travel media brand Travel and Leisure (T+L) presented its renewed list of the World’s Best Awards, in which the Peruvian destination was selected as the best city of Central America and South American, obtaining a score of 87.47.
There were more than 700 thousand votes from around 186 thousand people that were considered for this edition which is led, for the second consecutive time, by the Peruvian impressive city. Also, Lima, the capital of the city increased four positions in respect of the last year, being ranked in the fourth position.
“The imperial city stands out because of its history, tradition, culture, culinary inheritance, and unique experiences. Visitors can explore Inca temples, taste local food such as “cuy” (guinea pig) and find a strategic location to visit Machu Picchu” as published by the magazine.
Among the voters, the most frequent comments were: “All the best things that come to your mind can be find and done in this amazing city” “Beautiful place, full of history; food and nightlife are a one in a kind experience” “It is just a wonderful place to visit and discover more about the rich history of the country”, among others.
Cusco does not only host Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the modern world which has been recently selected as the best tourist attraction of South America in the World Travel Awards, but also is the home of unique experiences in sacred temples, ancient trails, unparalleled gastronomy and more. Lima, the culinary epicenter of the Region
Besides being among the five favorite cities of South America and Central America, the capital of Peru also has three restaurants included in the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024: Mayta (41), Kjolle (16) and Maido (05). Likewise, Central Restaurant was selected as the leading restaurant in the 2023 edition.
